What is a School Based Apprenticeship?/Traineeship?

Get on track early to achieve your dream career. A school based apprenticeship or traineeship can assist in making crucial decisions about career development post-schooling. You can make an informed decision about the industry you want to enter by trying the industry while you are still at school.

School based apprenticeships or traineeships can be delivered in two formats. The more traditional format is to attend high school for 4 days per week and work one day per week. Allowing the apprentice or trainee to complete up to 25 percent of their apprenticeship or traineeship while completing their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).

The second option allows apprentices or trainees to complete up to 45 percent of their apprenticeship or traineeship while also completing their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). Under this option students go out to work on a four week rotating basis.
